applespeeled, cored and finely chopped
clovesground (or pulse in a blender)
Place all the ingredients in the crockpot and stir.
Cover and cook on high for 1 hour.
Reduce heat to low and cook 11 hours, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is thickened and dark brown.
Uncover and continue cooking on low for 1 hour.
Put the mixture in a food processor and blend.
Spoon the mixture into sterile containers, cover and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
- The original recipe I followed called for 4 cups of sugar. I’m not even sure you need 3 cups because of how sweet the apples already might be.
- Also, I will be trying out other sweeteners in the future. Instead of sugar, maple syrup can probably be used.
