Crockpot Apple Butter
  • 5 1/2pounds applespeeled, cored and finely chopped
  • 3cups sugar
  • 2tbsp cinnamon
  • 1/4tsp clovesground (or pulse in a blender)
  • 1/4tsp salt
  1. Place all the ingredients in the crockpot and stir.
  2. Cover and cook on high for 1 hour.
  3. Reduce heat to low and cook 11 hours, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is thickened and dark brown.
  4. Uncover and continue cooking on low for 1 hour.
  5. Put the mixture in a food processor and blend.
  6. Spoon the mixture into sterile containers, cover and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
Recipe Notes
  • The original recipe I followed called for 4 cups of sugar. I’m not even sure you need 3 cups because of how sweet the apples already might be.
  • Also, I will be trying out other sweeteners in the future. Instead of sugar, maple syrup can probably be used.
